Condors begin 14-game drive for playoff position

Kahnawake, January 2, 2012 - Five points separate the 10th place Kahnawake Condors from eight place Princeville Titans; three from the ninth place St. Jerome Panthères and anything can happen with 14 games remaining in the 2011-2012 season. Confused?

Ahead of the Titans in seventh sit l’Arctic de St. Leonard with 40 points, and the Lachine Maroons with 41, seemingly out of reach for the Condors, yet a possible first round match up?

It gets a tad more complicated.

Les Loups de La Tuque, already defeating the Condors in their only match, find themselves one point behind, with several games in hand.

But that is the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League where nothing is guaranteed, except showing up to play hockey every night.

One thing is certain; the 2011-2012 Kahnawake Condors are good enough to be in the playoffs. Where they are positioned is the question?

The Condors begin their playoff drive January 6 against the Vaudrueil-Dorion Mustangs, a team they traded with in mid-December.

“No question we have to step up and be ready,” said Belanger who is 11 wins and 13 losses this season. “The trades will give us more power on the offence, giving us more than just one line.”

Since the 5-3 deal with the Mustangs in late December, the Condors have been silent on the trading front. Some moves are expected, and all management will say is that the trading deadline ends January 9.

Game time against the Mustangs this Friday is 7:45 p.m. Condors next game will be in Longueuil at 8:00 p.m. the following Friday.
